Groovin’ with Felix: Thanks VetTix and The Meadow Brook Theater
I was able to take my girlfriend and my sister to see Felix Cavaliere and his Rascals at the Meadow Brook Theater in Rochester Michigan. You start remembering and realize Felix and his Rascals wrote and sang some of the most memorable songs in the 60s and 70s. “Good Lovin’”; “It’s A Beautiful Morning”; “A Girl Like You”; “Groovin’”; “People Got ToBe Free“.I recall when ‘Good Lovin’ came out in 1966. Flanders Music had been open for almost a year and I had instant access to all new 45’s. It was brash, bold, distinctively New York. That Hammond B3 organ that Felix played roared throughout. Then it was grinding out what you thought would be the crescendo and suddenly it stops…a pause…wait, rock songs don’t pause…then it went right back into the verse and finally the thunder quits. What an unbelievable impression that song left. And now the guy is 78 years old. But, and it is a big but, the dude is still ‘The Blue Eyed Soul Man.’
One, two, three

I was feeling so bad I asked my family doctor just what I had I said, “Doctor” (Doctor) “Mr. M.D.” (Doctor) “Now can you tell me what’s ailing me?” (Doctor)
He said, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah) Yes, indeed, all I, I really need
(Good love) Now gimme that good, good lovin’ (Good love) All I need is love (Good love) Good lovin’, baby (Good love)
Now, honey, please, squeeze me tight (Squeeze me tight) Don’t you want your baby to be alright? (Be alright) I said, “Baby” (Baby) “Now it’s for sure” (It’s for sure) “I got the fever, yeah, and you got the cure” (Got the cure)
Everybody, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah) Yes, indeed, all I, I really need
(Good love) Now come on and gimme that lovin’ (Good love) All I need is love (Good love) Good lovin’, baby (Good love) Ow!
When I am 78 I hope I can still be jumping around. The Rascals always had a strong horn section Now that was a groovy evening for us old duffers.
