The Sigil (Flag) of The House of Stark. House Stark of Winterfell is a Great House of Westeros and the royal house of the Kingdom of the North. They rule over the vast region known as the North from their seat in Winterfell. It is one of the oldest lines of Westerosi nobility by far, claiming a line of descent stretching back over eight thousand years.

Their sigil (seal) is a grey Direwolf on a white background over a green escutcheon (shield). The motto of The House of Stark is not a boast or a threat. Their motto is a statement (which is apropos for Michigan in March): “Winter Is Coming”.

One of my two favorite characters from Game of Thrones was Arya. To me she was the quintessential fictional unlikely hero. You follow her for her entire life and find she is the one who saves everyone.

While following her more handsome half brother expecting him to be the hero, Arya sneaks up on you.
