Coming back to our ‘home state’ of Michigan we decided to do some advance ‘leaf peeping’ this fall by going to the Upper Peninsula during peak time. (Here in Michigan it is lovingly called ‘Da UP’. And people who live there are called ‘Yoopers’.)
One day we were in Copper Harbor which is on the banks of the Lake called Gitchie Gumee (Lake Superior). Walking along shoreline in late September you see the art work of the natural world.

It was a wonderful time to explore where we live. The motto of Michigan, the words on the state seal and the state flag say: “If you seek a pleasant peninsula – look about you.” We all have the philosophy that it is a good year if we can get up north at least once.
