Color, Composition and Story Post Number 8

This ranks as my favorite photo I have ever taken. In 2013 we took our Granddaughter to New York City for her 13th birthday trip. It was her choice – we said ‘Where would you like to go?’ She didn’t hesitate saying she had thought about New York for a long time.

We stayed in an Air BnB right across from one of the main entrances to Central Park. We wandered into that iconic place often. It is a marvelous park and an unbelievable place to people watch.

On one Saturday the buskers were out in full force. We came across this gentleman playing a ‘mean sax’. I was mesmerized with how well he played. I carried my Nikon everywhere and snapped this picture fast. After listening for a long time I made sure I tossed a few bucks in his sax case.

The colors are subtle and rich. The crowd is there but not the main story. For me it captured a moment I don’t want to forget.

  1. I love the shot of the Sax as the main subject and the people blurred in the background, and of course great memories on the trip. I agree this is a fantastic photo.
