What flag is that 09.11.2025

The Real reason flags are at half staff today

Patriot’s Day, 2025

“The attack today (yesterday) on Charlie Kirk was reprehensible. Such violence must never be allowed in America. We will always have political disagreements — disagreements are the hallmark of a vibrant democracy — but we must disagree peacefully and lawfully. We cannot and must not respond to disagreements violently.” Robert Reich

And, flags are flown at half staff today not to ‘honor’ a political ‘influencer’ but in accordance with the congressional order: “By a joint resolution approved 12/18/2001, (Public Law 107-89) has designated September 11th of each year as “Patriot Day” which also directs the flags be lowered to half-staff for the entire day on September 11.”

”§ 144. Patriot Day”(a) DESIGNATION.-September 11 is Patriot Day.”(b) PROCLAMATION.-The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation calling on-

”(1) State and local governments and the people of the United States to observe Patriot Day with appropriate programs and activities;

”(2) all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States and interested organizations and individuals to display the flag of the United States at halfstaff on Patriot Day in honor of the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States that occurred on September 11, 2001; and’

‘(3) the people of the United States to observe a moment of silence on Patriot Day in honor of the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States that occurred on September 11, 2001.”..

Mr. Kirk’s family needs our support as they grieve their loss. And I vehemently disagree with the current occupant of the White House usurping a day of remembrance for political gain, it is a gross abuse of power.

“Patriot Day serves as a reminder of the impact of that day on the nation and the world. It is a day for Americans to honor the memories of those who perished, to pay tribute to the bravery of the first responders, and to reflect on the values of freedom, democracy, and resilience.”
