What Flag is that 07.27.2025 Armistice Day

“South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula and sharing a land border with North Korea. Its western border is formed by the Yellow Sea, while its eastern border is defined by the Sea of Japan. South Korea claims to be the sole legitimate government of the entire peninsula and adjacent islands. It has a population of 51.75 million, of which roughly half live in the Seoul Capital Area, the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the world. Other major cities include Incheon, Busan, and Daegu.”

“In 1950, a North Korean invasion began the Korean War, which saw extensive American-led United Nations intervention in support of the South, while China intervened to support the North, with Soviet assistance.

The Invasion of South Korea by North Korea

Opinion: The Korean War, which was not exactly a war, is difficult to define or talk about. It happened so soon after World War II, the question remains, why did the US once again send ground troops to a foreign land? What was the purpose of risking lives and resources after the horrible experience of a World War? It was explained to the public that it was a ‘police action’. We were told that if ‘we’ didn’t stop the nasty Chinese and Russians the whole world would fall. The entire time (over 3 years) it was shrouded in mystery.

Eventually things were being noticed, such as, doesn’t it seem like a majority of the soldiers that are on the front lines are black? (This pattern continued into the Vietnam War.)

3 years, 1 month and 2 days later…’we’ said, ‘we quite, we are going home.’

No peace treaty, very little resolution, just, ‘we quit’, ‘we are going home, but don’t try anything in the future.’ Therefore, technically the police action is still active. We have kept troops and resources in Korea for 72 years.

Even the Korean War Memorial in Washington DC is an enigma, stuck in a corner with ghost like soldiers walking to nowhere in particular.

And, we do honor the vets who served and those who paid the ultimate price.
