What Flag is that. 01.16.2025

“Denmark is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It is the metropole and most populous constituent of the Kingdom of Denmark, also known as the Danish Realm, a constitutionally unitary state that includes the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland in the north Atlantic Ocean. Metropolitan Denmark, also called “continental Denmark” or “Denmark proper”, consists of the northern Jutlandpeninsula and an archipelago of 406 islands. It is the southernmost of the  Scandinavian countries, lying southwest and south of Sweden, south of Norway, and north of Germany, with which it shares a short border. Denmark proper is situated between the North Sea to the west and the Baltic Sea to the east.”

And yes, it is where the Vikings came from.
Another famous thing that came from Denmark: Legos!

Denmark has been in the news of late due to its relationship with Greenland.

King Frederik the Tenth, who succeeded his mother Queen Margrethe II, just last year.
The three crowns in the bottom left panel has been a part of the coat for 500 years. King Frederik took them out.
The brand new coat of arms now features a ram in the upper right panel representing the Faroe Islands and the polar bear in the lower left panel representing Greenland.

This has been understood as a rebuke to anyone talking about buying or taking Greenland.

“Greenland and Denmark have a unique relationship that’s often described as a “constituent country” or “autonomous territory” within the Kingdom of Denmark.” Denmark is responsible for Greenland’s defense and foreign relations. Greenlanders are Danish citizens and have the same rights and freedoms as Danish citizens living in Denmark.

Denmark and Greenland have had a unique and evolving relationship for over a millennium! Their political and cultural ties date back centuries, with Greenland being fully integrated into the Danish state in 1953 and granted autonomy as a self-governing territory in 1979.
This week a less than honorable progeny made a ‘in poor taste trip’ to Greenland. He went out on the street and hired homeless people to put on a red hat and take a staged photo then posting it as ‘Greenlanders love the US’. Each person was paid and given a free lunch at the hotel where they took the shot. Not good.
