What Flag Is That 12.01.2024

A country within a country, it is bordered by England to the east, the Irish Sea to the north and west, and the Bristol Channel to the south: Wales.

Wales is the dark green.

It has an ancient history with human activity for at least 29,000 years. It has a long and occasionally tense relationship with Great Britain. It is considered a ‘modern Celtic nation.’ Battles and treaties and more battles resulted in England ‘annexing’ Wales in 1542. The official language is both English and Welsh. Even though it is part of Great Britain, Wales maintains it fierce cultural identity. When competing in football (sic soccer) the Welsh team is spurred on with robust singing by the Welsh crowds, the motto of Wales is: Cymru am byth” “Wales Forever”.

The dragon motif of a red dragon on the Welsh flag first appeared on the battle flag of Henry VII in the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. The current flag of Wales was adopted in 1959. Known as the “Y Ddraig Goch” (The red Dragon)

One of our favorite TV shows is found on Hulu streaming about two American actors who purchase an English football club in Wales.
A silly premise with a heartwarming story about a city and its love affair with a footy (soccer team) club.
They needed Dead Pool Money to buy the team and turn it into a proper club.
A well designed, distinctive flag – and who doesn’t like a red dragon?
